FAQs

Product Information

  • What’s the difference between live and fresh cut microgreens?

Live microgreens are delivered in their growing tray for you to harvest it when needed. To get the highest nutriment content possible at consumption.

Fresh cut microgreens are harvested by us. Then  delivered to you within 2-24h in a compostable or reusable container.

  • Where should you store your microgreens?

The fresh cut microgreens should be kept in the fridge with the container closed to prevent extra humidity to get in the product.

The live tray should be kept in a cool bright room with indirect sunlight (do not place it under direct sunlight as microgreens are fragile and can burn easy), good air flow is a nice addition if possible.

  • How long can you keep your microgreens in the fridge?

It depends of the variety but generally between one and three weeks.

The Sunflowers and Peas shoots will have the longest shelve life while the smaller microgreens will be best consumed in their first week. Most of our product have a 2 week shelve life while store in the fridge with proper conditions ( heat and humidity is its worst enemy of microgreens).

  • What’s the difference between each variety?

Each microgreens have a different flavour, texture described in the microgreens menu.

  • How do you know if microgreens are bad?

Some common ways that you can tell if your stored microgreens are bad are:

    1.   The leaves are shriveling, and the water content has dissipated. These can be eaten, but they will not be as fresh tasting or pack as much nutrition.

    2.   They begin to have a smell. …

    3.   The stems on the plants become mushy.

  • Do microgreens regrow after cutting?

Most of the microgreens (small ones) won’t.

Some will regrow many times. The first harvest always provide the best quality greens in term of texture and flavour. We will let you know if your live tray is worth the effort of letting it grow again.

  • What happens if you let microgreens keep growing?

Microgreens will most likely die if you try to let them grow because they won’t have enough nutrients to grow past the microgreens stage and because they will crowd each other out and develop mold and other diseases. However, most microgreens will be fine for a few extra days.

  • How do you know when microgreens are ready to harvest?

We grow our microgreens with care. Therefore when we deliver your microgreens it is best to harvest them within 2 days.

  • Why are microgreens so expensive?

Microgreens are expensive because each harvest of these young plants requires fresh soil or new growing mats as well as sterilized growing trays (rather than simply growing in the ground). Their high nutriments content, their flavour and their delicate texture are the result of a very special care during their growth.

  • Are microgreens worth it?

Absolutely!!! Microgreens are delicious and contain high nutritional value. It can be easily incorporated into your daily diet.

  • Can you reuse soil for microgreens?

Totally, please compost the soil coming in your live tray in your garden compost or the city compost.

Reusing it to grow microgreens again whithout pasing by the stage of using a high temperature compost isn’t recomanded as diseases could appear.

Unfortunately for us, as microgreens commercial growers,we can’t.

We need to use a tested soil to grow the greens we sell you.. We compost our soil after each use and use it for our community garden to grow vegetables and edibles flowers.

  • Can I cook microgreens?

Except the Pea shoots which could be cooked for one or two min max at the end of a stir-fry, most microgreens would be best use cold. In a Salad, in a sandwich…or if you use them on a warm dish, it’s best to use them as a garnish on top of your dish at the very last moment to ensure optimal flavour.
